Double Digits

How can it be that 10 years have passed since I gave birth to my first tiny human????? With Camden's birthday falling on Tuesday, we have celebrated him pretty much all week! Nothing wrong with that!!! Last weekend Shane's family came over for some tacos and Reese's ice cream cake. While the cake was tasty, my lack of patience made its appearance not as pretty as it should have been. We live and learn, right??? But Camden was thrilled with it and that is all that mattered!

He was thrilled to receive a new scooter, Pokemon cards a Texas A&M flag for his room and money.

On Tuesday, I had lunch with him at school. This was the first time he actually wanted me to bring him food instead of him eating his packed lunch. So at his request, I arrived with McDonald's as well as Little Debbie birthday cakes for his class.

On Friday both boys received their awards for the nine weeks from school. Perfect Attendance for both as well as a celebration of great grades.

This weekend was the Puma Cup, so Camden had two soccer games yesterday and one bright and early this morning at 8:00. Luckily with his game early today, it gave us a chance to go and celebrate his birthday dinner at his restaurant of choice and do something that he wanted to do. He invited his best friend, Cole, as well which made it all the more fun.

Camden chose Shogun to eat at because he wanted to watch someone cook in front of him as well as try sushi. Unfortunately, our chef was not very entertaining, which was a bummer. The boys did try sushi for they first time and while Casen loved it, Camden was nervous and only tried a little. Shane of course did not even indulge - chicken!!!!

After eating, we headed over to Color Me Mine for the boys to paint some pottery. Camden and Cole both chose a dragon type piece while Casen chose a gnome. We were there over three hours as you have to put three coats on your piece in order for the colors to be bright. The boys chose pieces that were a bit intricate, so it took some time. I must say, I was very impressed with the time and effort they put into their pieces. Casen, who is not one that cares for art, really did much better than expected. And of course Camden, who is my art lover, did awesome!!

We will have to wait about a week and then will be able to pick up the pieces after they glaze and fire them. We can't wait to see them!

After painting their pottery, we headed back home for Camden to open the gifts he received from Cole.

I think Camden would agree that his 10th birthday celebration was a fun one. He would also agree that while it is awesome that he is now double digits, his teen years are coming faster than anticipated. I mentioned to him that before too long he would have armpit hair and his reply was, "I am NOT ready for that!" Neither am I buddy, neither am I!!! For now, we will just celebrate him being ten and will continue to enjoy the smart, loving, caring and outdoor playing boy that he is.
