Let the Fall Soccer Season Begin

Today marked the first game of the 2015 Fall Soccer Season. Camden is playing U6 for the Chicago Fire and Casen is playing U4 for the Green Giants. Camden will be playing with a few of his old teammates from the Blue Crocs (the team he played on for several years), Landon and Jack, which he is excited about.

They both had great first games, Camden scoring 7 goals and Casen scoring 3 goals.

Lots of Boy Fun

Our house was full of testosterone over the weekend and I loved every minute of it! I guess in reality my house always has more testosterone than it does estrogen, but this weekend with the addition of my two nephews, Mason and Braden, it seeped of it. My sister and her husband had a Labor Day weekend getaway planned with their friends and asked if we would watch the boys. No brainer there - of course we would! Any chance I can get to hang out with them, I try to take advantage of. Being 15 and 12 (really almost 16 and 13) I know hanging out with their aunt, uncle and two little cousins is not on the top of their list of fun things to do. But my boys absolutely LOVE being around their cousins and ask about them all the time.

So our weekend started on Friday evening, where we all packed up and headed to Braden's cross country meet. It was the first meet of the season and he did absolutely amazing!!! He placed 4th which was awesome! I was so dang nervous for him watching him run. It was fun and exciting to be there and cheer him on.

On Sunday, we headed to Alicia's Fun in Winnie. The boys went their in August with Nana and Poppa Ron and had a great time, so we thought we would try it out ourselves. It was fun for our boys and there were a few fun things for Mason and Braden. One of our favorites was racing the go-carts - needless to say we are all very competitive!

We were told we had the fastest go -cart!

Casen and Mason beat us all!!!

We hope Mason and Braden enjoyed hanging out with us as much as we enjoyed our time with them!

My Nervous Nelly

My child is becoming one of  the students I talk about, and not in a fond way. He is becoming a frequent flyer, and it is only the first week of school. God is paying me back for all the things I have said about frequent flyers, I just know it. Let me explain. My definition of a frequent flyer is one who is constantly in the nurses office because of one or all of the following reasons -  1. they are a hypochondriac, 2. they are trying to get out of class or 3. they just want attention. Very seldom is the frequent flyer actually sick. As a school nurse, I have seen way more than my share of these. Last year one of my frequent flyers visited the clinic more than 100 times during the school year - yes that is right, 100 times. CRAZY!!!! Well, I have preached from the get go to Camden to not be a frequent flyer, because no one likes a frequent flyer. Well, apparently my preaching is falling on deaf ears. I believe he has gone to see Nurse Bambi almost everyday. His complaint is an upset stomach or nausea. Nurse Bambi actually called me on Friday because Camden threw up. She said he was just sitting there crying with his hand over his mouth. She tried to get him to talk to me on the phone, but he would not even come to the phone. So I called in the troops (Dad, since he works next door) and he went over to check on Camden. After some stern talking to and a little lovin' Camden returned to class.

Well, we have decided that the beginning of school jitters is getting the best of him. Either that or the change from Zyrtec to Allegra and Flonase is upsetting his tummy. So, we stopped the Allegra and Flonase and went back to Zyrtec and have had quite a few pep talks in the evening. Here's to hoping that Camden's frequent flyer days are over . . . .

'Fingers'

I have refrained from saying anything for awhile, afraid that it wouldn't last, but Casen has tackled yet another feat. SUCKING HIS FINGERS!!!! I noticed when he came back from staying with my parents during the summer that he really was not sucking his fingers, but thought it would be short lived. However, he has not picked back up the habit. The only time he sucks his fingers is nap time or bed time - Woo Hoo!!! I tell you this was a huge summer for Casen and ridding of some bad habits. Once again, thanks to my mom for doing or saying whatever she did to encourage Casen to quit sucking his fingers.

And so I leave you with these pictures of him doing what he loved to do . . . .

First picture of him sucking his fingers from 09/21/13.

I love how he could suck his fingers and smile at the same time

This was how he sucked his fingers most recently - two fingers in his mouth and one in his nostril. Lovely, right? He had a knack for being able to rub extra snot on his face. We would leave home him looking all nice and clean and by the time we arrived to our destination, he would have dried boogies or snot on the left side of his face. Now that, I am NOT going to miss!!!!
