Season Champs

Today while Shane painted the ceiling in the baby's room and the guest room upstairs, Camden and I headed to the soccer fields to watch one of Braden's final games of the season. While I watched the game, Mason played soccer with Camden nearly the hole time. Braden played well, and his team fortunately won. Since they did win, they got to play a second game at 4:00 pm that Shane was able to go to with us. Once again, he played well and his team won, which made them season champions in his division. Camden LOVED Braden's trophy and was thrilled to take a picture with him!

33 Week Appointment

Today I had my appointment with my OBGYN and things are progressing, or so I am told. I didn't gain any weight (thank goodness), Casen measured just as he was supposed to and his heart rate was 150 bpm. During my next visit, which is in 2 weeks, I will have an ultrasound, which I am excited about because it seems like it has been such a long time since I have seen my baby.

As for pregnancy updates, I am exhausted. I wake up tired and go to bed tired. Honestly, I don't remember being this tired with Camden. When I do get the energy to do things, I pay for it the next day. UGH!!! That just bugs me. And on Sunday, as Camden was napping, I too took a nap, which for anyone that knows me knows I am NOT a napper!!! My ribs are killing me as they also did with Camden, but somehow I think I forgot just how uncomfortable that pain is. God definitely has a way of having you forget some of the aches and pains you have - otherwise I think everyone would only have one child!

As for Casen's room, well, let's just say it is there! Shane still needs to paint the ceiling as well as move the crib mattress up to the highest level. After that is done, I will feel like I can get his bed all made up and hang a few things on the wall. I need to get the car seat out and just make sure it is spiffy clean, as well as wash some of Casen's new clothes. I feel behind in everything, yet I do recall I felt that way with Camden. And, I guess I should somewhat start getting my bag together. I know I have seven weeks left, however you just never know - right? And I HATE being unprepared.

So enough of me venting about feeling overwhelmed, I will definitely be getting more things accomplished so that I am not stressed the last few weeks of the pregnancy! Thankfully, I have a wonderful husband who is helping in anyway possible to make the last 7 weeks a bit less stressful!

Can You Say 'Nesting'?

The day started with us all heading out to the school I work at for our PTO carnival. I had to work for two hours at the carnival while my boys played and had a good time. Shane is such a great daddy and took Camden to play different games, visit with my coworkers and then to play on the playground equipment. Camden had a great time and enjoyed all the activities. We then headed home and after we ate lunch and put Camden down for his nap, something happened to me. I don't know if 'nesting' is what is going on or just some spring cleaning, but let me tell you what, our bathroom is probably cleaner than it has ever been and our front yard is looking better than it ever has! Today I started cleaning the bathrooms and next thing I knew I had out a toothbrush cleaning every nook and cranny in the shower as well as in the bathroom itself. I was on my hands and knees making sure that no spot went untouched. And after I finished our bathroom, I moved to the half bath downstairs as well as the kitchen. And if that wasn't enough, when Shane started the yard work, Camden and I made our way outside and I got my new hedge trimmers out and started trimming our shrubs (as well as the neighbors). Shane finally cut down some shrubs in the front yard that I have been wanting gone since we moved out and things look much better. Now I have to figure out what type of new shrubs I want to plant and get those planted.

Let's hope I get a few more spurts of energy like this because gosh knows I definitely have more things I could accomplish!

Houston Children's Museum

Camden was invited to his first real birthday party by one of his classmates, Grayson. Grayson's birthday party was at the Houston Children's Museum and since we had never been, I figured what a great way to experience the museum. We were not disappointed. Camden loved playing in the toddler room as well as several other places in the museum, including the 'Water Flow' area. He also enjoyed looking at all the turtles in the pond. Shane and I enjoyed watching him explore all the fun things they had. We will definitely be returning!!!

Finally!!!

Well, I think we finally have the name picked out. As you know, we had pretty much come up with a first name, but the middle name was not coming any easier than the first one did. I spent a lot of time looking for a one syllable name that had a good Christian meaning and the only one I came up with that I liked, Shane did not care for. So as we were driving to Kerrville Thursday, I again was thinking about it and had received word earlier in the day that Shane's grandfather had to have an emergency appendectomy and to boot, it was on he and Granny's 65th anniversary (and our 5th anniversary). As I was thinking about how much I absolutely love Shane's grandparents, how much he loves them, and just what they mean to not only their family, but anyone who comes in contact with them, I thought about Shane's grandfather's name, James, and thought that it seemed to go well with Casen. So I sat on the thought for a few days and shared it with Shane on the way home from Kerrville. I let him think about it for a few days, and tonight when I brought it up again, we agreed that James would be a great name. So, the name for baby #2 is

Casen James Hood

Now for a little funny to go along with that. As I was thinking about the middle name and thought of James, I was certain that it would have a great Christian meaning, which would meet the requirements we were looking for. When I told Shane tonight that I had not even looked up the meaning of James, he informed me that it meant 'supplanter; substitute'. What?? Where the heck is the great Christian meaning I am sure it had? We laughed about it and as I told Shane, the meaning of James as we know it from his grandfather has a far greater meaning to us than what a book says. As for the meaning of Casen, being spelled the way we chose it is Scandinavian and means pure.

Appointment - 31 Weeks

Today I had an appointment with Dr. Bruce and everything appeared to be going well. I gained 4 pounds since my last visit, so overall have gained 23 pounds. Casen's heart rate was 141 and he was measuring well. Right now I am battling a horrible cough that will hardly allow me to sleep at night, so I asked her if she had any suggestions, knowing good and well there is not much I can take or do in my pregnant state. She suggested cough drops and Robitussin, which I had already been using with no real results - so I guess I will just continue to suffer and pray it goes away quickly. I also asked her if I could take Lactaid for the lactose intolerance I seem to now have and she recommended Lactose free milk but said she did not see anything that suggested you could not take Lactaid. So on my way home, I picked up more cough drops, some lactose free milk and Lactaid. I am now scheduled to follow up with her every 2 weeks and will have an ultrasound in 4 weeks.

Easter Weekend 2012

For our long Easter weekend, we headed to Kerrville to visit my parents. I am sure I have said it before, but I will say it again, I love going to visit my parents. I enjoy being around them as well as their great friends they have made while living there. It is always a fun time with us being able to enjoy good food, good fellowship and being able to relax and this weekend was no different. Shane and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary on Thursday. Since we spent that day working and then driving to Kerrville, we decided we would go and spend a little bit of time in San Antonio on Friday, minus a child. So mom watched Camden and we headed to the Riverwalk just to walk around and enjoy some lunch. We had a nice time.

On Saturday Mom and I did a little shopping and she bought Casen some outfits so that he has a few more clothes to wear. We found some really cute things for him and now I feel much better about the amount of clothes we have for him.

That evening, we had pizza down at the barn (which is a place they have a lot of activities where the live) and then we listened to a 'jam session'. My dad took up playing guitar two years ago and he and seven other guys get up on stage playing their guitars and taking turns singing songs. It was fun watching he and his friends!

Of course, today was Easter and the Easter Bunny came and visited Camden! He loved everything in his Easter basket and enjoyed hunting Easter eggs after church. He did a great job finding the eggs, some with a little help.
