Last Ever Field Day

Today was another bittersweet moment as I attended the last ever field day for the Hood boys. I usually get more pictures, but I was too busy soaking it all in (or maybe chatting with some friends). Surprisingly, Casen spent the majority of his time doing running events - either the relay or 50 yard dash.

It won't be long before we say so long to Northpoint Intermediate.

He Is Growing Up

Shane and Casen headed to Baton Rouge this weekend for an NIT tournament, while Camden and I stayed back so he could attend his mission training today. On Friday evening, Camden and I headed to Ranchitos to have dinner with Melissa, Shawn, and Braden who was in for Spring Break. It was nice catching up with Braden and hearing about Melissa and Shawn's Spring Break adventures. On our way out the door, I wanted to catch a picture of Camden and Braden to send to my mom, and much to my surprise, they are the same height!

Over the past year, I have been talking to Camden about driving and he has told me that he did not think he needed to learn how to drive. When I asked him why, he told me that he had no problem me driving him around. Ha!!! So sorry buddy, I am not going to be your chauffeur when it is time for you to go off to college. So I have asked him on multiple occasions if he wanted to go and drive and he has always turned me down. . . that is until yesterday. He finally took me up on my offer! We headed over to Tomball Memorial High School parking lot and let him have a turn behind the wheel.

He did great!!! And, he didn't mind it! So much so, that he asked to go and drive again today! Yesterday we only stayed in one parking lot and today we ventured from one parking lot to another, which meant driving on a road. Even if it was only maybe 20 yards of driving on the road, he was still so proud!

Time, slow down!

Spring Break Festivities

This past week was our Spring Break and it was very low key. Originally I was a little sad that we were not doing anything, however it ended up being a nice relaxing week that I think we all needed. We started the week off with Camden having a scrimmage against the girls team. It is always fun watching the boys play against the girls, however they don't play with the fire and aggression that they usually display when playing against other boys. So they ended up losing, which I know ticked Camden off because one of the girls he played against is Olivia, one of his friends that he has had since Kindergarten.

On Monday, we headed to Katy to play some putt putt at Tiger Woods mini golf course Pop Stroke. We had fun playing putt putt, corn hole and foosball.

The rest of the week, we did not do too much. The boys hung out at home playing video games and watching movies, while Shane and I did a lot of relaxing. I did go to work one day and actually got a lot done! This weekend Casen had a baseball tournament, which meant we spent a lot of time at the baseball field. They boys played well and and ended up being the March Madness Champions!

Now that we have made it through Spring Break, the rest of the school year is going to fly by. Summer will be here in no time!!

A Much Needed Facelift

When making blog posts, I very seldom look at my actual blog. While making a blog post today, I unintentionally hit the button that took me to the preview of my blog. Wow!! Based off of the pictures in the header of the blog, it is obvious that it has been at least 11 years since I have updated the layout.

That being said, I decided to take a little time to give the blog a new and updated look. Amazing what 11 1/2 years can do to four people. :)

A Whole Lotta Games With A Little Singin' on the Side

This past weekend was filled with lots of sports, a little cake and a little singing. We started the day at Burroughs park for Camden's soccer game.

Shane's parents came in town for the weekend, so they met us at the park. We then headed back to the house to celebrate Nana's birthday and of course had cake to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Nana!!

Casen's team played in the Houston Super NIT baseball tournament which was a three day tournament that had over 1,000 teams from several states. We played teams from Louisiana, Texas, California and Mississippi. On Saturday, we played two games and came out 1-1 on the day. Sunday we played two games at a field in Brenham where we lost one and won one, and honestly thought we were done. In order to advance to the next bracket game we had to finish in the top 31. Our fate was in the hands of a team playing on another field at the same complex in Brenham. If this specific team lost, our boys would stay alive to play another game. Our boys stayed to watch the game which proved to be a tight game but lo and behold, the team ended up losing which made us 31st. So we all had to hop in our cars and rush over to Baseball USA to play a game at 8:00pm. The boys ended up winning that game which allowed us to make it to today's bracket. Aside from Camden, we all had a welcomed day off! We ended up losing our game this morning, however we ended up 16th out of 80 teams. I must say, I never thought I would let my child miss school for sports, but as they say, 'never say never'.

Waiting to see if we would live
to play another game.

Tired, but excited to make it to
Monday

This evening, Casen had his choir pop show and we all enjoyed watching him 'Dancing the Night Away'.

While it has been a great few days, I am going to need a few days to get caught back up!
