Game Ball

Casen has really been enjoying baseball season this year and is playing well. Tonight at his game
he received the game ball. He was so thrilled. I was thrilled for him, however I was sad that I missed it. With the boys playing different sports at different places, we divide and conquer. Luckily, it seems to bother me way more than him that I missed it.

First Grade Field Trip 2017

As you may recall from last year, I was not allowed to go on Camden's field trip. He did not want me to tag along. :( I am not sure if he was afraid I would cramp his style or what, but this year, he had a change in tune and was more than happy for me to go. Yay!!!! His trip was to 7 Acre Wood in Conroe. The day was filled with petting and feeding animals, putt putt golf, soccer, a picnic and just playing in different play areas. It was a fun time not only for the kids, but for us adults too!

Spring Break Getaway

Shane and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary in April this year. Due to schedules with the boys and work, we did not have any time to celebrate then, so we decided to take a little trip over spring break to celebrate. While his parents watched the boys, we headed to the hill country to stay at a nice bed and breakfast and just relax.

We arrived in San Marcos and did some shopping at the outlet mall prior to heading to our destination of Sage Hill Inn. The view there was absolutely gorgeous. While there we enjoyed good food, beautiful scenery, and a peacock named Kevin.

Our second day there, we headed to Wimberly to the Wimberly Glassworks where they do glass blowing. After that we headed to Wimberly Valley Winery, then to lunch back in Wimberly, then to Duchman Family Winery. We then made our way back to Sage Hill Inn where we went on a hike on the grounds. It was a fun filled day.

Today, we left Kyle, Texas and headed to Hamilton Pool Preserve. I had not been there since my college days at UT. Interestingly enough, in the early 1990's it was not an overly popular place and we drove right in and went swimming in the pool. Fast forward to today when you have to wait in line to get in to see the pool and no swimming is aloud at this time due to the bacteria in the water. Regardless, the wait was worth it. It is beautiful and relaxing. We went on a yet another hike that followed the water flow from Hamilton pool out into the Pedernales River. It was a nice, relaxing hike with more breathtaking views.

After that we headed to The Oasis in Austin, had some lunch and then headed home. It was a nice, relaxing time away.

A Goose Egg Worth Remembering

On Sunday, we were at our friends house for Lifegroup. While there, Casen was in the kitchen talking to me, and as he turned to head upstairs, his feet slid out from under him and he landed forehead first on the tile floor. Immediately, a nice goose egg came up. He only complained of pain to the site, and never had a headache or any other signs of concussion. We got home and put ice on it and he of course was bruising before he even went to bed.

As the days progressed, the knot on his forehead was improving and the bruising was changing colors. On Thursday I received a message from his teacher:

And by today, he had two black eyes.

This goose egg will definitely be one for the memory books!

Last Basketball Game of the Season

Today marked Camden's last basketball game of the season. His team had an awesome season - winning nearly every game. Camden really loves playing basketball and has shown a vast improvement since last year.

My photo was a little late, but Camden made this shot.

After his game today, they had an end of the season celebration where we enjoyed breakfast tacos, cupcakes and he received an Upward Basketball.

Casen had a baseball game today as well. He hustled, played well and was focused through out the game. I have a feeling he will be Shane's little baseball player!

Celebrating Dr. Seuss

This week, both boy's schools celebrated Dr. Seuess' birthday. Each day marked a different theme, which the boys participated in three out of the five.

Monday - Inside Out Day
Monday - Crazy Sock Day

Top Hot Tuesday (favorite hat) - Casen
Green Day (Green Eggs and Ham)- Camden

Wacky Wednesday
Casen - wacky socks
Camden - Mismatched clothes
Thursday the boys were to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character (which neither one wanted to do) and then Friday was Go Texan day, which Camden did not want to do, and Casen had already dressed up last Friday like a cowboy, so he too chose not to either.
