Happy Birthday Dad

I want to send a big shout out to my dad who is celebrating his 72nd birthday today. When my parents were here last weekend our whole family went out to our favorite local Mexican restaurant, Tres Los Ranchitos, and celebrated dad. As is customary with the birthday celebration there, Dad got to sport the birthday sombrero and be serenaded to. Good times and fun memories!

Casen's 4th Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Casen's 4th birthday with a joint birthday party with one of his classmates, Addyson. He was so excited since this was his first big birthday party where we invited his classmates/friends. We had the party at K2 Gymnastics which everyone seemed to have enjoyed. Since Casen and Addyson enjoy different things, we went with two different themes. Blaze and the Monster Machine for Casen and Aurora (from Sleeping Beauty) for Addyson.

Earlier in the week, I worked on making goody bags to hand out. The boys got a bag with candy and a Monster truck and the girls got a bag with candy and side walk chalk.

Mom and Dad came into town so that Mom could make Casen's cake. I must say, making a cake for Casen is far less stressful than making one for Camden. Camden has always been very specific as to how exactly he wants his cake to look. Casen on the other hand, really does not care - he just wanted it to have Blaze on it with the number 4 somewhere on it. I finally did get him to decide on the colors he wanted the cake to be, but other than that, he did not care. I will admit, as much as Camden's exact vision of what he wants usually stresses me out, I like that he is creative and has an idea, because I am not good at that at all!!!

I think the cake turned out great, and as usual it was very yummy.

The kids had a great time jumping into the foam pit. Heck, I wanted to jump in there too, but I decided I would go ahead and continue to take pictures. ; )

My (almost) 4 year old!

While Casen was opening his gifts, Camden pulled his loose tooth! That makes 3 teeth lost since his birthday!

The cousins
Casen had a great time with his friends celebrating his birthday. Thanks to my mom for helping me pull off yet another successful birthday party!

The First Big Boo Boo and a Birthday Celebration

When we arrived home from work, Shane and I worked in the yard (which by the way is not what I had planned to do on my birthday, however with the rain that has been in the forecast, this was the first opportunity to cut the grass). While the boys were out running around, Casen fell on the concrete and got his first really big boo boo. Poor little guy, he cried, and cried, and cried, and then cried some more. :(
(This pic was taken 05/18/17)
After finishing the yard work, we headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant to celebrate my 43rd birthday. FORTY THREE!!! Age is just a number, right? Much to my surprise, when we arrived to the restaurant, Melissa and Shawn were already there ready to celebrate with us. We had a nice dinner, and then they put the birthday sombrero on and proceeded to sing 'Happy Birthday' to me. As you can see from the picture, the waiter had bad aim and instead of putting whipped creme on my nose, it ended up in my eye. Casen's facial expression makes me laugh (since both of my boys are scared of the whipped creme). He didn't know what to think.

We then headed back to the house to enjoy a delicious Baskin-Robbins chocolate almond ice cream cake. Yummy!!!

Field Day 2016

Today was Camden's first ever field day and believe it or not, he allowed me to attend! : ) Actually Shane and I both took off from work so we could enjoy field day with him. I did ask Camden to take a picture with me, which he would not do and at one point he had water dripping down his face and I attempted to wipe it off and was quickly told to not touch him. Apparently, I am embarrassing. None the less, he had a great time competing in all the events and had a great time with his class. Fortunately, he has made some great friends this year while in Mrs. Harl's class.

Baseball Comes to an End

Today was a day that, sadly, Camden has been looking forward to. Today marked the end of his baseball season. Through this season, he has decided that perhaps at this point baseball is not for him. He would much prefer to play soccer and basketball. While he did really great and improved so much this season, he just wasn't a huge fan of the game. I think part of his issue with the game is that even though it is considered a team sport, there is a lot of focus on each individual - which he does not like to be the focus of any attention at all. With soccer and basketball, they are both much more fast paced and are more team oriented. To sum up his season he played mainly third base, but also played in the outfield a bit. He hit the ball the majority of time he was up to bat, and this was his first year with coach pitch. We were proud that even though he decided early in the season that it was not his favorite, he still gave it his all. He was very focused and while some of his other teammates may have been messing around, he was always very focused and aware while on the field.

I will say that I do believe Casen will be our little baseball player. For the majority of the games, he sat right beside me learning the game of baseball. He now understands fouls, balls, strikes, etc. He even loves to watch baseball on T.V. and will generally get up in front of the TV and mimic the game that is going on. Another dead give away is, he loves to wear hats - just like his daddy!
Proud of both my boys!
And while today was Camden's last baseball game, it was also Mother's Day. I must say I wouldn't have wanted to spend my day any other way than spending time with my boys. Today pretty much summed up the life of a boy mom!

My Mother's Day gifts.

I love that I received this precious gift from Camden.
My sister has the exact same gift from Braden from when
he was in Kindergarten and I always loved it.

Muffins with Mom

Today at Casen's school was Muffins with Mom. It was a nice treat to be able to sit with Casen at his school and enjoy muffins with he and some of the other moms and their kiddos.

I received a nice gift from him - a silhouette of his head. I loved it. On the back of the silhouette was the following little poem:
Mother

You gave then gift of life to me,
And then in love you set me free.
I thank you for the tender care,
For deep warm hugs and being there.
I hope that when you think of me
A part of you you'll always see.

His teacher told me that she held up each child's silhouette in front of the class and all the children could identify whose exactly they were. I thought that was pretty cool.

Casen wanted to take a picture
of me holding my gift from him.

Kindergarten Program

Tonight was Camden's Kindergarten Program, 'Texas our Texas'. The Kindergartners at his school have been preparing for months to present this program to their families. Camden and his classmates did an awesome job singing and doing the hand motions to a lot of fun 'Texas' songs. Camden is now an expert on Texas and can tell you lots of fun facts about the great state we live in!
