Sports Camps and VBS

Fortunately, this week marks the end of our busy June schedule. In the mornings, the boys had Sports Camp at a local church where they played all different kinds of sports. It was obvious they played a lot because when I got him from school, it was very quiet in the house because they were upstairs just relaxing watching TV or their iPads.

In the evening, we all had VBS at church. Camden's best friend Cole came with us for the fun. I served as the nurse for the event and Shane ran Rec. The boys had a great time and on Wednesday night both Camden and Cole accepted Jesus into their hearts. I love how God moves during these kiddos during VBS. It was  great week.

We wrapped up our busy week going to Schlitterbahn in Galveston today. The boys had each earned a ticket with a reading program at school and they expire at the end of this month, so we had made sure to squeeze in a little more fun. It was a wonderful day - not too hot, good cloud coverage and we had a lot of fun riding all the fun water slides.

Mark Kistler's Art Camp

This week, Camden attended an art camp that was taught by Mark Kistler, AKA Commander Mark. You may remember him on The Secret City Adventure on PBS where he led viewers through drawing exercises and examples. We were encouraged by our local artist in the neighborhood, who gave Camden all the art supplies a few months ago, to enroll Camden in the camp so that he could learn how to draw 3D.

Each participant was given a book to draw in which he brought home in the evenings to share his drawing with us. It was quite amazing to see Camden's drawings taken to the next level with the shading and other techniques he was taught.

Father's Day 2019

Today was Father's Day and our church celebrated by having 'Hot Dogs and Hot Rods'. They had all sorts of motorcycles and cars on display, hot dogs and chips to eat, and an exotic petting zoo for the kids.

The boys are blessed to have a Dad who is so involved in their lives. There are lots of things he does, like making their lunch daily, washing their laundry (before you get too excited, I do help fold), helping coach baseball, and taking them to practices. Each of these things help make our house run smoother. I know the boys don't know any different so they think it is the norm to have a dad that does a lot for them, but one day I have no doubt they will see just what a great dad is he.

A Busy Camp Week

After a week of rest last week for all of us, this week we all hit the ground running. I started my first of three weeks of working summer school and the boys attended a basketball camp that Shane helped with at Tomball Memorial High School.

In the afternoon, Camden headed to Mrs. Easton's (his art teacher) house for art camp. He had fun making all sorts of neat things this year.

After a tiring week, I think the boys are looking forward to some rest and relaxation this weekend.

Casen's 7th Birthday

My little is not so little anymore. Casen is now 7 and he couldn't be anymore excited to be another year older. His actual birthday was yesterday and his request was to go rolling skating and then to eat at IHOP. So, we did just as he requested. We then came home and opened presents and had Oreo Ice Cream Cookies (since he had his real cake today).

This just might be what happens when
you are 47, thinking you are  about 10 and fall
while rolling skating. . .

Today, Shane's family came over for a little get together to celebrate our sweet boy.

The Last of Spring Baseball

This past weekend marked the last of our Spring baseball season. The boys had a tournament in Pearland they played very well and were ranked 2 seed by the end of the first day. Unfortunately, day two we won the first game, but lost the second, which prevented us from going to the finals. It was a great way to finish the season and the boys had fun.

Tonight, the boys had their team party at Glow Zone in Katy and they had a great time.
