Doing What They Love

We had another busy weekend with the boys activities. Honestly, I don't mind going and blowing all weekend long. It is fun watching my boys do what they love and I wouldn't have it any other way.

For the third year in a row, Camden had artwork that was chosen to be displayed in Tomball ISD Fine Arts Festival. He loves art so it is always fun to see him get acknowledgment from his teacher for doing a good job. I will admit, the first year we received notice that he had artwork displayed, I figured all the kids had artwork at the festival. But now that Casen is in school it is clear that only certain student's artwork gets chosen. Casen honestly could care less about drawing or art, so he did not have any artwork at the festival - which luckily did not phase him a bit. Thank goodness that our kids have different interests and things they are good at or life would be boring!  I got tickled while we were at the festival and I ran into one of the girls from my Bunco group who was there to see her daughter's artwork. She said her daughter was so excited and she didn't have the heart to tell her daughter that everyone's artwork was there. I had to tell her that her daughter did indeed have something to be proud of because we now have proof that not everyone's gets selected. :)

After the art festival, the boys got fresh haircuts and then we headed to the first of Casen's baseball games this weekend. It is the final tournament of the baseball season to determine the championship winners of the 6U Farm League. We played two games yesterday, which we won both, so today our fourth ranked team ended up playing the team that is undefeated (they are the only select team playing in our league and have been together for several years). They have run ruled every other team they have played, however today we gave them a run for their money. It was such an exciting game and we were ahead the majority of the game but ended up losing. We were extremely proud of the boys and the way they played. We will play next weekend for the B Bracket Championship.

New do's.

I love how he cheers on his teammates
regardless if he is in the dugout or on base.

Hopefully he doesn't bite that tongue off one day.

I had a bit of mommy guilt with the boys schedules today. Camden had a soccer game that started an hour after the start of the game Casen had against the undefeated team. I really wanted to see the baseball game and Cole G's (Camden's great friend who is on his soccer team) mom knew I wanted to see it so offered to take Camden to his game. I debated and debated, but when I asked Camden about it, he was more than happy for me to go to the game because that meant he could hang out at Cole G's house a bit before going to his soccer game. I guess it ended up being a win-win for us both. And we made it to Camden's game during the first half, so we did not end up missing too much!

He looks so grown in the picture.

Kindergarten Field Trip

As you may recall, Camden did not want me to be a chaperone to his field trip when he was in Kindergarten. I still remind him of this and how he hurt my feelings (of course, it is all in fun). Casen has told me since that time, that when he got to Kindergarten, I could go on his field trip and he did not let me down.

The Kindergarten class first went to the movies at the Regal theater to see 'Born in China' which is a story about three different animal families in China. The parents were not able to go to the movie with them due to space constraints, so we met up with them at Jerry Matheson park after the movie. The kids had a picnic and then spent the afternoon playing at the park.

Today was Casen's first time to ride a bus and while I did not get a picture of his very first ride, I did snap this picture of him getting on it to leave the park. He did not seem near as excited to ride a bus for the first time as Camden was when he was in Kindergarten.

2nd Grade Field Trip

Today was the field trip for Camden's second grade class and he requested I be a chaperone for the field trip. I could think of nothing more I would love to take a day off of school and do than spend a day with Camden and his friends. No, seriously - I was excited!.  We had a great time at the Museum of Natural Science and then eating across the street on top of a hill and watching the kids roll down the hill.

Planetarium

Rolling down the hill . . .

Mrs. Madere's 2nd grade class

I will definitely need to take Camden back in the near future as he was a bit bummed that he did not get to stop and read everything in the museum that he wanted to due to time restraints and the other kids in his group not being as interested as he was. I will admit, museums are not my thing, however to see him so interested and eager to learn makes me more than happy to take him back to the museum.

Cold Weekend for Sports

I know, it was not below freezing today, however for mid April the temperatures were much colder than I was anticipating. Both the boys had games today so we got to sit out and enjoy the beautiful sunshine, wind and cold temperatures. Shane's parents and uncle Ira were able to come and enjoy watching the boys play.

An added bonus for today was Casen received the game ball for playing a great game today.

Easter 2018

The boys woke up this morning with great anticipation of what the Easter Bunny had left them. As seems to be tradition at our house, the boys received candy as well as pajamas in their Easter baskets. It is always fun to see their excitement when they pilfer through their baskets.

We all got dressed and headed to church to celebrate the resurrection of our risen King.

What I get when I try to take a picture with my boys
I had no idea when we all got dressed this
morning that we would like Easter Eggs.
After church we headed home and the boys hunted the eggs that the Easter Bunny left. Camden asked multiple questions about this whole process this year and he came to the conclusion that the Easter Bunny left the eggs for me to hide since he did not see any of the eggs in the yard prior to us leaving for church. I know they won't believe in the Easter Bunny forever, however I am hoping I have a few more years before that happens.

Later that afternoon, we headed to the basketball courts at a local elementary school and had fun playing knockout. My goodness, I haven't shot baskets in forever and apparently my aim was not so great. Well let's be honest - I am not certain if my aim has ever been great!!!

One last parting picture to share this Easter Sunday - my felt board. I try to place scriptures on there that the boys can read and memorize. I know Casen is still learning to read, but I think he uses the felt board for a completely different purpose.
