Halloween 2015

Last year Camden really loved Halloween and has been looking forward to it coming around again. In the middle of September he was ready to look on the internet and figure out exactly what it was he wanted to be for Halloween. As with most things, he apparently already had an idea in his head. As we scrolled through the many costumes - ninja turtles, minions, transformers and the like, he declined each of my ideas. All of the sudden he tells me to stop - that he found the perfect one! What would be the perfect thing for my 5 year old? A Navy Seal Ninja!!!

As for Casen, Camden helped him pick out the Bumblebee - Transformer costume. And why might you think that it was this particular costume? Because it is yellow, of course!

Prior to trick-or-treating, we went to Katy Mills Mall to do a little shopping and so that we could see Shane's sister's boys in their costumes. They were the very cool Batman and Robin!

After we got home and ate some supper, we headed out trick-or-treating. The boys had a great time and luckily, since we got started a little late, they ended up not getting too much candy!

Even though you can't see their faces
you can tell they are having a great time!

Annual Pumpkin Patch Visit

Last weekend was rainy, so the boys and I decided to go to the pumpkin patch today once everyone got home from school. This year they had new 'scenes' to pose by and Camden was thrilled with the Ninja Turtle pumpkins as well as the Minion pumpkins. Casen, being three, was just thrilled to be there, not really having a favorite one way or the other.

Camden was being such a big helper today and would pose Casen for their pictures.

Camden had Casen hold the
pumpkin with him for the picture

Perfect!

The look on his face just cracks me up

It is tradition that they each pick out a pumpkin - this
year Camden picked out a cool squash and Casen a little
pumpkin. Hopefully one day they will pick out a big one
so we can take it home and carve it!

He Wears Many Hats

In Casen's class they have an art project every day. Lately, he has had several 'hats' of which he loves to wear home. Needless to say, him in his hats just crack me up!

The Big Boy Bed

I tell you, the second child always gets the shaft - believe me, I speak from experience! Camden was in a big boy bed shortly after he turned two. Now granted, the fact that I was pregnant with Casen and needed the crib for him lit a fire under my hiney to get him into a big boy bed. Poor Casen has stayed in the crib up until today at the ripe 'ol age of three years and 4 months!!! Woo Hoo!!!! Since Grandma and Grandpa Key were in town, that meant we had a truck to use to go and pick up a new mattress. He was really excited about moving out of the crib - now to find him a comforter! Yet another thing I already had picked out and ready for when Camden moved into his big boy bed. Like I said, Casen is getting the shaft.

A Busy Weekend

This weekend has already proved to busy and it is only Saturday!!! As you may recall, a kitchen remodel was supposed to take place last summer. Due to my indecisiveness, and then school starting, I decided I would get my 'new' kitchen this summer. Well, after we got the inside of the house painted in July, it was evident that we needed to get rid of the carpet and get new flooring. Believe me, when my husband (who didn't think we needed wood floors until the boys were older and less apt to fall and hurt themselves) felt like we needed to get new flooring, it must have been bad!!! So the kitchen is put off yet another year. Luckily, picking out the flooring was a piece of cake because one of my great friends got new flooring several years ago and I loved it! I brought home a sample, Shane agreed on the color and that was that!

I was told that it would take 3 days to install the flooring (since we were doing the whole downstairs, minus the kitchen and bathrooms) and they could do it over a weekend. So I called in Mom and Dad so someone could be here on Friday while Shane and I went to work.

On Friday I receive the following text from my mom:

I must say I did not realize they were going to move all the furniture (minus some pieces they put in the garage) into the kitchen. I guess that meant we would be eating out most of our meals this weekend.

They had to use a lot of  leveling compound to level out the floor. Who knew that a house that is only 10 years old could be so unlevel! And I can assure you, I did not feel like a very good hostess for my parents since all they had to sit in was nice comfy folding chairs!

Today, the boys had soccer games and Grandma and Grandpa Key went and watched them play. Melissa, Mason and Braden were even able to come and watch Camden's game. Luckily this got us out of the house for a bit while the floor was being laid.

When we got home, some progression had definitely taken place! I really like it and can't wait to see the finished product!!

Lunch With My Favorite Kindergartener

Working as a school nurse, I generally am at school when Camden is at school, which makes it difficult to be involved with his school activities. Since I work in the Cy-Fair school district and Camden goes to school in the Tomball school district, I had today off and he had school. I decided it would be the perfect day to surprise him for lunch, and he was definitely surprised!

The Barnett's Come to Visit

We had some weekend visitors, and couldn't of enjoyed our time with them more! Manya and Ronald (Shane's aunt and uncle) arrived in Texas yesterday morning. They stopped at Shane's parents house where they met Ron, Derenda, and Ira and then they all headed to the Houston area mid afternoon. After visiting with Shane's sister and her family, they made their way to our home Friday evening. We went and ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant and then had a big ol' sleepover.

Getting ready for some Mexican food

Manya brought fun gifts for the boys - sticky hands, voice changers, and other fun things.

Manya was bound and determined to come and watch Camden and Casen play some soccer. And boy, did she pick a good weekend. Prior to leaving for their games, she made a deal with Camden that she would pay him a dollar for every goal he scored. Camden ended up with 2 goals and Casen probably had 8 or 9. So to make it all fair, everyone got five dollars and you would have thought they were in hog heaven!

After the games, we had some lunch and then celebrated Poppa Ron's and Shane's birthdays. Due to Shanelle (Shane's sister) having a sick kiddo, they were not able to come and celebrate with us.

Celebrating Daddy's Birthday

Tomorrow is Shane's birthday, but being the good guy he is, he let us celebrate it today since I have Bunco tomorrow night. Of course, he received nothing but Alabama stuff, just what he requested!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!
