Baseball Tournament

This weekend Casen had his first tournament with his 8U Suescan team. They have only had cage practices since January due to the weather. Their current practice schedule is Monday in the cages and Wednesday on the fields. Every Wednesday it has rained, thus keeping them off the field. Honestly, we had no idea what to expect as we have 3 new players on our team that we picked up after the Fall season.

Earlier in the week, Shane came home and told me that Casen was smashing the ball during hitting practice. I love watching him drive the ball to the fence and running the bases, so was looking forward to a great weekend. Unfortunately, we have no idea what happened, but he struck out at most of his at bats this weekend. The poor boy couldn't buy a hit if he had wanted to. By the last game, his bat finally found the ball and he landed on base a few times. Can I tell you how stressful it is to watch your child when they are not hitting??? This is the first real slump Casen has been in since playing ball. While I know this is not the first time we will experience, I pray they are few and far between.

Luckily, the team played well together as a whole and ended up winning both our games on Saturday with a  good run differential which put us as a one seed going into the games on Sunday. On Sunday, we managed to go undefeated thus winning the tournament.
