Sports Filled Weekend

The first week of school always takes it tolls on the boys. Between getting used to getting up early again and then having late practices, they are tired.

Casen's baseball practice started Monday, and he is practicing at Kincaid High School, which is over 30 minutes away. His practices are on Monday and Wednesday from 7:00-9:00, which puts him getting home after 9:30. Now that baseball has started, he can no longer attend flag football practice, but will still play on the weekends. With Camden now playing for Challenge soccer, he is now practicing at Burroughs Park, which is also almost 30 minutes away. His schedule is Monday 8:00-9:30, Wednesday 7:30-9:00 and Thursday 7:00-8:30. Once youth group starts on Wednesdays, he will go to soccer practice on Tuesdays, instead of Wednesdays. He also has centerback practice for an hour and a half one night a week before his team practice. Good thing they both enjoy their sports and enjoy going to practice since they are always on the go!

We had another weekend filled with several flag football games and a soccer tournament.

Casen had some great games with multiple touchdowns and a few pick sixes!!

First Day of the 2023-2024 School Year

It has been a busy summer and I can't believe it is already time for the boys to head back to school. Today, Camden started his last year at the junior high and Casen started his last year at the intermediate school. This is the last year Shane will have one of the boys with him at school. Time is a flyin' . . .

Every year since Kindergarten, Casen and Charlotte have had their picture taken together since Shane and Charlotte's mom, Emily, work together. I have a feeling, this might be the last 'first day of school pic' they will take together since next year they will be heading to junior high.

Sports Have Started Back

You know summer is coming to an end when the sports start back up. Camden started soccer practice and Casen started flag football on July 31st and this weekend they both had their first games. Camden decided to leave the Dynamos this year and moved over to Challenge. I was super proud of him making the hard decision to leave, since he has played with a lot of those boys, who are now his friends, for years. The past year was rough on his previous team, and he felt like he needed some different coaching so that he could become better. Kind of strange no longer seeing him in blue . . .

This will most likely be Casen's last year playing flag football because he is really wanting to play tackle football next year. I love watching football, but not so sure I am going to like watching my own child play football.

Camden's team is an RL (Regional League) team, which means we will travel to San Antonio, Dallas, Austin and Oklahoma to play. This weekend, he and I headed to San Antonio for the day for their first game. Unfortunately, they came up short, but it was fun watching him back out on the field playing the game he loves.
