Galveston Island Trip - No Fear

One thing we knew we wanted to do with the boys this summer was to take them to Galveston to do a few fun things. This week Shane and I did not have anything to do, so we decided it was the perfect time to go. We got up yesterday morning and had the boys put on their bathing suits so that we could drive straight to the Schlitterbahn, although we never told them where they were going. It is always fun to surprise Camden - he generally guesses all sorts of different things trying to figure out where he is headed and regardless of if he can figure it out or not, he is always so excited.

We arrived at the Schlitterbahn right at opening time and headed in.

Camden's first choice was to ride a big water slide. So we chose one that we could go down on a big tube as a family. Casen was not overly thrilled both prior and somewhat during the ride, however afterwards he said it was fun, but when asked if he wanted to do it again, it was an adamant "No." From there on after, Camden was hooked on the big slides. He honestly could not get enough. There was a set of four slides together and while Shane took Casen to an area he could play in, Camden and I rode down the slide six times back to back, and then when Shane showed up there, Camden talked him in to going down with him again. I think Camden and I rode it three or four more times after that later in the afternoon. Can I tell you, I LOVE that he has no fear!!! I have been ready to have a roller coaster riding, thrill seeking child and I do believe I have one - Woo Hoo!!!!

Casen started out a bit fearful of things but by the end of the day, he loved going down the smaller slides and had fun splashing around in the water.

We had a very fun day!

That evening, we walked on to the ferry and took a round trip ferry ride so the boys could ride a boat. While on there, we saw the dolphins swimming, which the boys thought was really cool. Afterwards we went and ate seafood and just enjoyed being together.

This morning we took the boys to the beach so they could play in the sand and water. Casen had never been to the beach before and honestly, he probably could have done with out. He wore his Crocs nearly the whole time because he did not like the way the sand felt on his feet. He did go to the water for a brief moment, but much preferred to play with his beach toys and sit in my lap on the towel.

In my lap is where Casen preferred to be!
Camden enjoyed playing in the sand with his brother as well as playing in the water.

We had a fun time on our little get away. Camden can't quit talking about all the fun he had on the water slides. This trip made this momma's heart happy! Even though I am truly not a Galveston fan (I prefer the blue water and white sands) it was worth every moment to see the boys having such a great time.

Weekend Fun at the Lake

Camden had a T-ball game yesterday morning. After he had a great game hitting the ball well, he and I headed to the lake to hang out with my sister and her family at their lake house for the weekend. I must say I was really excited because I LOVE the lake and it has been years since I have spent time at a lake. In my younger adult years, I lived at the lake on the weekends and honestly, this weekend made me remember how much I love it. It is definitely my happy place!!!

When we got there we ate some lunch, and then headed out on their boat. Camden loved it. He went tubin' with Mason and then with Braden and had no fear what so ever. He loved jumping off the boat into the water and then later jumping off the bank into the water.

We woke up Sunday morning and Camden got ready for some fishing. Only problem with that was, Shawn had a hard time catching bate.

So we moved onto Plan B which was riding jet skis. Once again Camden had no fear. I love that he is my little dare devil!!! Braden was a great driver and Camden thought it was great fun.

Camden had a great time with his cousins and is ready to go back to the lake. Thanks again McAnears we enjoyed it!!!

What is Summer Without Ice Cream?

I LOVE ice cream - period. I would eat it every day if it did not mess with my girly figure. But, since they have not figured out how to make ice cream have no calories or fat and still be rich and creamy I have to watch my consumption of it. Now if you live in Texas, there has got to be some Blue Bell flavor that you just love. Mine was always Fudge Brownie Nut, that is until they retired it!!! UGH!!!! Now, anything with chocolate in nuts is good to me! I have always wanted to visit Blue Bell so I could see just how they make their ice cream, and how in my 41 years I have not made it there, I have no idea. But, I figured today was a good day for us to make the trip to Brenham and go on a tour of Blue Bell. Can I tell you how excited I was???

The tour was really interesting and it was really neat to see what a well oiled machine that company is. We all enjoyed the tour and I think all of our favorite part was getting a scoop of ice cream at the end!

After we got home and had some lunch, we took the boys to the neighborhood pool where they had a great time swimming and playing. Tonight as I was putting Camden to bed I asked him what his favorite part of the day was, of course thinking he would say something about Blue Bell. His response, "Going swimming!" Seriously - swimming over ice cream????? Where did this boy come from! : )

Cafe au Lait Spot

Today while Camden was away on a play date at his friends house, I let Casen get in his little pool to splash around. While he was standing up in his pool, I noticed a rather large spot, which I would consider a birthmark, under his right nipple towards his right arm pit. It caught me off guard for a minute, since he is two and I have never noticed this spot before.

So of course, I go online and started researching it. It is called a cafe au lait spot which is French for 'coffee with milk' which refers to its light brown color. It is more noticeable after sun exposure. So that explains why I noticed it today. Apparently it is benign unless you notice six or more that are 5mm or larger before puberty, which then it can be related to all sorts of syndromes and problems. So, we will pray that this is the only one he ever has!

Today after Camden's T-Ball game each team member received a Sportsmanship Medal for having good sportsmanship through out the season. Camden was thrilled of course and wore it proudly.

Camden's Second Annual Trip to Nana and Poppa Ron's

This week Camden was excited to head to Nana and Poppa Ron's for a five day visit. But before he went to their house, we had a T-ball game and then Malachi's birthday party at the Little Gym in Katy.

Camden had a great time too!

After the party, Camden headed home with Nana and Poppa Ron. He was in for a treat since they had a lot of things planned for him to do. First up on Sunday was church and then eating at Olive Garden. Camden LOVES to eat at restaurants so he was in hog heaven. However, with all that good food, he chose to eat salad (which he loves) and for dessert Zapoli. Later that evening he, Nana and Connor went to the movies and saw 'How to Train a Dragon 2'.

On Monday he got to go swimming and had a big time going down the slide and jumping in from the side.

On Tuesday they were supposed to go to a water park, however it was raining so instead, they ate at Chic-Fil-A and then they took Camden to Chuck E Cheese. (Better them than me!) He had a great time playing video games, skee ball, and other fun stuff.

On Wednesday, the weather cooperated and they were able to take Camden to Paradise Water Park in Silsbee. He had a great time and loved playing and sliding.

And of course he spent a lot of time playing with all the different toys they have at their house.

He had a great time getting spoiled while there, but I sure missed him and was glad that we were able to go and pick him up today.

While Camden was gone, Casen missed him of course. We spent a lot of time hanging out and playing.
