Last Day of School

I always love the comparison pictures people post of their kiddos from the first day to the last day of school. It never ceases to amaze me the change that goes on in a kid over a 9 month period. And my kiddos are no exception.

So here is to the last day of Kindergarten and Second Grade. On to bigger and better things. :)

End of Year Parties

Tomorrow the boys only attend school half a day on their last day, so they had their end of year parties today. They were excited about the parties, however the main thing both boys were most excited about and were anticipating was if they were going to be mileage club winners (running the most laps in PE throughout the year). Camden was a bit concerned if he was going to win first place or not because there was a boy who had a few more laps than him, however the boy was in a different class which was able to run more days than his class due to activities that were going on at school. Apparently several weeks ago, Camden had been thinking about it and due to his concern he approached one of his PE coaches to ask her about it. She said she would figure out the amount of days each class had ran to make sure it was fair. Of course I would not know how the boys did until their class parties.

When I arrived to the school, the boys told me I was to go to Casen's class first and then to Camden's class. First thing Casen showed me was his First Place Mileage Club Medal that he was so proud of. He then enjoyed snacks, decorating a cookie to make it look like a beach and of course posing for a picture with his teacher, Mrs. Prince.

I then headed over to Camden's class. He was not wearing a medal when I arrived and my heart kind of sank. He said, "Well, I didn't get second." I responded positively so that he didn't realize I was sad knowing he was disappointed, "Oh, that is OK." As I am getting ready to console him, he pulled a medal out of his pocket and with a huge grin on face and said, "I got first! I tricked you!!!" I am not sure if he was more proud of getting the medal or tricking me. Turd!!!!

Camden had fun eating snacks, chatting with his friends as well as decorating a cookie and of course I had him pose for a picture with his teacher, Mrs. Madere.

Memorial Day Weekend Fun

With only 4 days of school left after Memorial Day, I felt it was time to get away so we could finish out the last days of school refreshed and ready to go. The boys and I headed to my parents after school on Friday for a quick get away.

The first task on my agenda was to take my uncle, Stinker, shopping for some new clothes. Since the nursing home he was staying in flooded during Hurricane Harvey, he has basically been wearing athletic type shorts and t-shirts that his cousin sent him. He had asked me a few weeks ago if I could take him shopping for clothes the next time I visited Kerrville. So first thing Saturday morning I headed over to the nursing home where he is currently residing and picked him up to head to the big mall in Kerrville. :) Basically the only two places to shop are JC Penney as well as Belk. Between the two stores we ended up with a pair of swim trunks,4 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of jeans and 6 shirts. He was thrilled to say the least! While we were shopping, grandpa took the boys swimming, which they had a ball. Later that afternoon he came out to mom and dad's and had dinner with us. I am so ashamed to say that I did not take one picture of him and the boys - just his clothes. I am becoming a slacker in the picture taking department!

On Sunday we all got up and headed to church. Of course this was after Camden went out and gave some lovin' to his new pet, Lizzy.

After church we headed to the Art Festival that was being held in downtown Kerrville.

Casen's first time to ride without a booster seat. He
was so excited and felt like such a big boy.

Camden made a beaded bracelet.

After our day of fun activities, we headed to the barn to have pulled pork sandwiches and then enjoyed some ice cream.

With all the business of the weekend, I had not yet made time to visit grandma, so she was first on my list of things to do today. Dad and I headed out to visit with her and while we were chatting with her she recalled that it was my dad's birthday. After we discussed his age and her age, she asked him, "Pat, what are we going to do about this?" His answer was, "We are going to keep living until we die." After thinking a second she said, "Well I guess that sounds good." So I guess we all need to take heed and keep on living until you die!

We had a great weekend and the boys are ready to return for their week long visit in July.

Proud Aunt Moment

Today I was able to attend a Rotary Luncheon honoring the Rotary Student's of the Month. Mason was chosen as a Student of the Month in April and today they were awarding scholarships to the students. What an honor for Mason to receive the top scholarship of $5,000 while all the other students received $1,000. When honoring Mason, the woman who spoke regarding him stated that when he interviewed with her what stood out with him was he was the only student who arrived with his resume in hand - which they felt was a sign that he was prepared to go out into the world. Once again, I am so proud of him!

Field Day 2018

Today Shane and I both took off of work so we could attend the boy's field day. How lucky were we that they were not scheduled to have it at the same time, so we were there the whole day (can you hear the sarcasm?) - and let me say, it was a nice warm day!

Casen had field day in the morning and he had a ball. I will say after today I feel particularly sorry for his teacher, Mrs. Prince. That class is high energy, to say the least. You know after you leave each station and the parents manning the station make numerous comments along the lines of, "Boy, that is the wildest group!" and see all the different personalities in action, that their teacher is definitely looking forward to the summer!!!

Casen loves to blow bubbles so was
very much looking forward to this station.
A nice refreshing treat

After we went home and ate lunch we returned to school for Camden's turn. He of course had a great time with his friends - getting wet and playing all the games. He definitely has a competitive side that comes out when playing the team games.

This was supposed to be the limbo, but
when you are hot, it is more fun to roll around
in the water.
One of Camden's favorite stations, too.
