New Sport - Why Not?

To say we are going to be busy this fall season is an understatement. Along with Camden having soccer practice on Mondays and Wednesdays and Casen having baseball practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we decided to try some flag football for Casen. Now, he doesn't have a set practice date, but he mostly has games on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Throw that in the mix with Camden having soccer games both on Saturday and Sunday and Casen having five baseball tournaments between September and December and we pretty much have something everyday of the week. Yes, we will be busy, but honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. The boys love their sports, enjoy going to practices and do not complain at all because if they did, we would be reevaluating somethings.

So Casen's first flag football games were today (he had two scheduled). Camden also had a soccer game that was 30 minutes or so away, so we divided and conquered. But due to rain storms, Camden's game got cancelled once they got there, however Casen's was still on. Casen and I got drenched waiting for his first game, but after the storm passed it was nice weather for both games. Luckily Shane and Camden only missed the first few plays of the game.

We got wet and Casen loved every second of it.
Need I say that flag football may easily become one of my new favorite sports?? So fun!!! They have Casen playing center and quarterback. I know, he does not look like he is quarterback material, but he can throw and he is surprisingly fast. He had an awesome first game getting a pick six and then running in the extra point after a touchdown. After getting his pick six, he received the 'turnover chain'. Too funny! He is really enjoying it and he continues to amaze me with his athleticism. I am definitely looking forward to more flag football!!!

First Day of School

Since the boys did not start school until today, Shane took them to school with him on Friday and yesterday. Fortunately, they entertained themselves in the gym playing on their iPads, playing different games with the equipment in the gym and playing with little geckos they found.

Today, they headed out bright and early . . . well not too bright since I had to take the pictures in the dark since the sun was not yet up. They were both up and at 'em and ready to go before it was time.

I think I am still in denial that this is Camden's last year at the elementary school. It is crazy to think that after this year, the boys will not be at the same school again until Casen reaches the 9th grade.

Unfortunately, Camden had a nose bleed while waiting for Shane to walk them over to their school. Good thing he caught it in time and he didn't get blood on his clothes.

And, as he does every year, Shane captured the boys outside of their classrooms!

Here's looking forward to a great 2019-2020 school year for us all!

Time with Nana and Poppa and Meet the Teacher

This week Shane and I headed back to school, so that could only mean one thing for the boys . . . to spend time with Nana and Poppa. Shane met his parents on Saturday and dropped off the boys to them. They spent time swimming, watching movies, eating good food and just hanging out.

SLIME!!!

Nana met Shane this afternoon so he could pick them up and bring them home just in the nick of time for Meet the Teacher.

Camden and Mrs. Keller

Fortunately, the boys teachers seem great and they are excited. Camden is especially thrilled to start back to school. His teacher, Mrs. Keller, describes herself as a grandma and it is obvious she loves what she does and has been doing it for 35+ years. Casen's teacher, Mrs. Neelley has taught, stayed home with her kids for awhile and now is back in the classroom. If momma's intuition serves me correctly, they are going to have a great year!

A Week of Two-A-Days

Now that Camden is old enough to play select soccer, he had a camp this week which consisted of two-a-day practices to get them ready for the season. He was at the soccer field from 10:00a - 12:00p and then 5:00p - 8:00p. They were long days and he was tired, but I think he enjoyed every minute of it.

On Tuesday his best friend, Cole, came home with us and they got to spend the day hanging out and playing.

Camden did not get to go to his final practice this evening because Dude Perfect was in town and one of Casen's birthday presents was tickets to their show. I don't think Camden was too upset to miss practice for the opportunity to go and see this group of guys perform cool trick shots. It was a fun show and we spent the evening laughing and having good time.
