Food, Fun and the Fourth of July

Since we have been doing a lot of house stuff lately, I thought it would be great to get away for a few days. I decided that going to Kerrville to visit my parents is always nice and relaxing so mentioned my great idea to Shane. Well, he apparently had another great idea (great for Camden and me, bad for him) that he could paint the ceilings while we went and visited my parents. You see, our house was repainted before we moved in which was great, however they painted the ceiling the same color as the walls, which looked horrible. So we had discussed that the ceilings needed to be painted, but Shane really didn't want Camden around the fumes. So he had a great plan!!

On Thursday evening, Camden and I headed to Kerrville. We left around 5:30 pm so that Camden could sleep half the trip. Apparently he had other plans and stayed up the entire time. He really wasn't bad at all and we sang kiddie songs and praise and worship songs the majority of they way there. I love to hear him sing!!! We saw multiple deer standing on the side of the highway eating after dark. I love seeing them, but it is always a bit scary for fear they will run out in front of us. Anyway, we made it safely to my parents place.

On Friday, we did a little shopping, visited Nan Naw and enjoyed some great food. Since 'outside' is Camden's favorite place to be, we spent a lot of time enjoying the great outdoors. The temperatures were very pleasant and there was always a nice breeze.

On Saturday, we got up and had breakfast down at the barn (which is always great) and Camden got to visit and show off for all of my parent's friends.

"Cheese!"

We spent a lot of time outside walking around, which he is doing great with now, and going for 'rides' on the golf cart. Camden just couldn't get enough of it. On Sunday we went to church, and then participated in the annual Fourth of July bike and golf cart parade they have at the resort my parents live at. Camden thought it was fun and enjoyed the honking horn on the golf cart.

Later that afternoon, Grandma Key came over and my mom mixed up a batch of Butterfinger ice cream, and dad got it going in the ice cream maker. Camden thought that was great! We had a nice meal and then enjoyed the ice cream. Camden would not eat any of mine, however he did part take of Grandpa Key's ice cream.

Monday was the Fourth of July as well as the day Camden turned 17 months. Camden and Grandpa played guitar during the afternoon.

Later that evening Mom and Dad had a get together at their place with 40 of their friends that stay at the resort as well. We had ribs, sausage and all sorts of sides. It was great, and Camden once again enjoyed all the food and people. We are so blessed that he is pleasant and social. Everyone just loves him - which of course makes us feel good. He did retire a bit early though. I think all of the running and playing outside mixed with the going to bed late and getting up early finally caught up with him. But, all in all a great 17 month (as well as Fourth of July) celebration for him.

Today we headed back home around noon, again with the plan that Camden would nap on the way home. This time, he did follow the plan, and napped for an hour and half.

My sweet angel

We had a great time at my parent's place. It was nice and relaxing along with great company and food. We hated that Shane stayed behind to paint, but he did a great job and the end result is wonderful.
