Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school for our whole family. Of course I had to take a 'Last Day of School' picture to compare to the first day of school.

Last Day of School 2013-2014

First Day of School 2013-2014

The changes in these two boys since the first day of school is crazy. Camden grew several inches as well as gained a shoe size and Casen gained two shoe sizes as well as started walking and talking non stop, in addition to all the things they have learned along the way. Camden had an awesome teacher, Ms. Marti, who taught him more than I could ever imagine. It is crazy that my son knows all about the planets, what friction is, all about the sea animals and so much more. She loved each of the kids in his class like they were her own.

A self portrait Camden drew this week. Ms. Marti
loved how he drew his spiked (crazy) hair.
Casen had several awesome teachers, Ms. Daysi, Ms. Nefretiti, Ms. Amy, Ms. Nataly and Ms. Ebony. They taught him the alphabet, colors (somewhat), shapes, manners and much, much more.

A sweet end of the year letter from Ms. Eboni and Ms. Daysi
As you may have noticed, Casen is in his pajamas in the last day of school picture. Unfortunately on Tuesday morning, he woke up wheezing. I was not the least bit thrilled, since this was the last week of school and Shane and I had a lot to do to close up our rooms at school. When I picked him up from school that afternoon, he was wheezing even more and was short of breath. I got him home and he had a 100.7 temperature so I gave him Ibuprofen, a breathing treatment via nebulizer and called the doctor. They requested I bring him in after hours, which I did. Of course, since he had just finished his breathing treatment prior to us arriving there, his wheezing was much improved however his temperature had increased to 102.3. The doctor listened to him and really did not hear any wheezing so recommended we continue the breathing treatments every four hours along with his inhaler as needed.

The next morning he was still wheezing, however I gave him a breathing treatment and sent him to school with his machine so they could give him treatments while at school. My mom and dad were going to come on Thursday, however since Casen was not really improving, they decided to come on Wednesday just in case they needed to watch him. On Thursday morning when he got up he was breathing 52 breaths per minute and was using his accessory muscles to breath. I did NOT like that at all, however decided to send him to school, with intent to make him an appointment as soon as the doctor's office opened. My parents went and picked him up at school mid morning and we got him to the doctor at which time he was diagnosed with an ear infection as well as wheezing. I had to give him a breathing treatment while in the office, which was HORRIBLE. Casen fought me the whole ten minutes - by the end we were both sweating. (He does not even act like that at home!) Dr. Worrall prescribed him Cefdinir antibiotic for the ear infection, Prednsione syrup and we were instructed to give a breathing treatment 2 hours after we got home, then every 3 hours until 10pm and then every four hours until he went to bed the next night. Ugh - I hate not only waking up but also waking him up in the middle of the night but can I tell you how perfectly he did? I would get him out of bed, give him his treatment, and then when I would put him back in his bed he would give me a kiss and go right back to sleep! My Mom and Dad took him back home with them and Dad was in charge of giving him the breathing treatments. Casen and Dad would sing and talk while doing his treatments, so he made it very pleasant for Casen. Needless to say, I decided not to sent him to school on the last day, and instead had Mom and Dad watch him again. Hence the reason Casen is in his pajamas in the picture!

So apparently my whole plan of the boys not being sick the last few weeks of school due to being on antibiotics did not work out so well! I guess when you have an illness that the antibiotic does not cover you have no choice. Now we are hoping and praying that his breathing is under control so that he can have fun at his birthday party on Saturday.
