Good Times in Kerrville

As they do every year at this time, the boys spent some time in Kerrville with my parents. We drove to our half way mark in Luling on Saturday to drop them off to my parents. The boys spent several days with them before Shane and I headed to Kerrville on July 3rd to crash their party and spend a little time there ourselves.

As they do every year, Buckhorn Lake Resort had their July 4th bike and golf cart parade. The boys and I rode with Grandma on the golf cart for the parade while Dad and Shane watched.

That night, the fireworks show was phenomenal! I enjoy sitting where we can watch the guys running around lighting the fireworks. It really is neat to watch and makes you appreciate the work they do!

Of course, there was plenty of pickle ball to be played. The boys enjoyed getting up most every morning to be at the courts at 8:00am to play with all the retired fold. ;) Once we go there, Shane (and sometimes myself) would go with the boys in the evenings to play.

We had fun playing with different insects while we were there as well. One of Grandma's plants had TONS of green caterpillars on it. After a little research we found these caterpillars turn into hawk moths. Unfortunately, the ones we caught would not be transforming into moths since we fed them to Grandpa's koi fish.

And the daddy long legs were out in full force. They were everywhere, so we may or may not have killed a lot of them . .

Grandma's butterfly plan had lots or butterflies on it, even though it is hard to see it in this picture with Nina.

Grandpa's honey bees have been working hard and he will be harvesting the honey next week. In the meantime, they were out of sugar water so we headed up the hill with him so he could fill up their bottles. Casen helped grandpa by making sure his smoker was ready so he could tame the bees if need be.

Grandpa explaining some of the bee keeping
process to us. Very fascinating!!

And a trip to Kerrville in the summertime would not be complete without homemade ice cream. One day I am going to learn not to eat supper so I can eat multiple bowls of deliciousness!

Grateful for our time spent in Kerrville, however we had to head home today get the boys packed and ready to go to Pine Cove tomorrow. Until next time . . .
