A Brand New Nose

For years now, Shane has known he had a deviated septum, but has avoided having surgery. He has constantly complained of just not having energy, always being tired and not being able to breathe out of his left nostril. I have told him if he could hear how he breathes and sees how he sleeps, he would know why he felt that way. Between him gasping for air at times amidst the snoring and jolting he does, it is no wonder he is tired. So, he finally decided to have his deviated septum repaired. Since today was the first day of his Spring Break, he opted for his surgery to be today. The boys and I don't have our Spring Break until next week, so I took the day off to take him to surgery and luckily he will have the week to recuperate with out us at home (except in the evening).

Pre-op
According to his doctor, his surgery went well and his instructions are to not lift anything for two weeks and no blowing his nose. I did not see him after his surgery until he got in the vehicle, and he actually looked pretty good, although I could tell he was in pain. Once we got home, he rested on the couch waiting for the pharmacy to fill his pain medication. For today and the next few days, he will have a drip pad under his nose catching any extra blood.

I hope the surgery proves to be worth it for him!
