HOCO Festivities

This week was Homecoming and it was a whirlwind. Since Camden wanted to do the mum exchange with Sienna on Tuesday, I left work early on Monday and headed over to Tiffany's to finish up the mum. After 25 or so hours and a few finishing touches today, the myum was finally done!

Wednesday was the Homecoming parade. Camden walked with his soccer guys while Casen walked with the WWJH football guys. My pictures were NOT amazing - apparently it is not cool to stop and take pics with your mom during a parade. LOL

Friday was the day for everyone to wear their garters/mums to school. They do things so different than we did in high school, so I am constantly learning what the latest trends are.

At Casen's school, it was pink out day, which he decided on Thursday night that he wanted to dress up for. And, of course we had no pink, so we headed to search for a pink shirt, which believe it or not was not an easy task, and then to Michael's to get tool to make a pink tutu. The things we do as mother's. . . 

I was pleased to receive a picture in the middle of the day from Tiffany (my friend who helped make the mum), whose son snapped this pic at school and sent to her to share with me. :) Honestly, I was rather surprised to see Camden still wearing his garter.

I had asked Camden to get a pic of he and Sienna with their mums on at school. I was pleasantly surprised when he shared this cute picture with me. 

Friday night was the football game and pink out. The boys had fun hanging out with their friends and watching the game.

Tonight was the Homecoming Dance. With the help of grandpa, Camden got ready and we headed to Seasons Harvest where the group was to take pictures on their property. He looked so handsome!

After pictures, we drove the group to Sapporo Restaurant and dropped them off with instructions to let us know when they were ready to head to the dance. Prior to this evening, I have been coaching Camden on his manners and how he was to pay for Sienna's dinner, so had hopes that he remembered all the things I told him. My parents were in town for the weekend, so while Camden and his date were eating at Sapporo, we all went to our favorite local Mexican restaurant and ate, sans Casen who went to a haunted house with is friends. Of course while we were eating, he texted to let me know they were ready. I arrived to the restaurant, along with some of the other parents, took a group picture and then dropped them off at the dance.

If you know Camden, he is not much of a dancer and gets embarrassed easily, so I was glad to see this picture of him dancing with sweet Sienna. (And I have to laugh at the girls taking their picture behind them.)

It was a good week and, while it is so hard to believe that we are already here, I am so proud of the young man Camden is becoming. Between he and I, we both learned a lot through the Homecoming process. Hopefully we are both better prepared for what the future holds.

Busy But Fun Week

It has been an extremely busy, but fun week. Casen had a football game against Waller Junior High at Waller. It was a fun game! Casen made a fumble recovery, which ultimately allowed his team to score, and they won the game!

On Wednesday evening, Casen had his first choir concert of the year. He is one a few 7th graders who were asked to be part of the Chamber Tenor Boys Choir.  Both the Boys and Girls Chamber Choir started off the concert singing The Star Spangled Banner and they sounded beautiful!

Thursday evening I again headed back to my friend, Tiffany's house to work on the mum. I logged in another 4 or 5 hours. 

On Friday I was living my best life! I had the opportunity to visit two of our district's Ag barns to check on their AEDs. While there, I was able to visit with some of the animals. I absolutely loved my time there with the animals and was reminded that I am not where I am supposed to be. I am still convinced that I should be somewhere on a farm raising animals. . .

Friday evening, Camden and I headed out to find him a suit to wear to Homecoming. I am not going to lie, I spent more than I anticipated! I think growing up with just a sister, I always assumed that girls had the greater expense for these type of events, but after buying a suit, making a mum and all the other things that go with Homecoming I am beginning to see otherwise! But, I will say, Camden ended up with a nice suit and he is going to look very handsome!

On Saturday we spent the majority of the day away from home as we had to travel to Round Rock for soccer. It was a nice day and we were able to sit in the shade for the majority of the game.

Sunday after church, I headed back over to Tiffany's house to work on Sienna's mum again. Camden and Sienna are wanting to do their mum exchange on Tuesday, and I still had a lot to work on. I clocked in another 10 hours working on the mum. It has been a learning experience to say the least, but I have enjoyed spending time hanging out with friends while learning all about mum making. 

While I was working on the mum, Camden enjoyed hanging out with his church friends at high school night, swimming and socializing.

Fortunately, the mum is getting closer to completion and I am hoping and praying I will have it done and ready to go on Tuesday. Stay tuned . . .

HOCO Proposal

We had a weekend of firsts, both the boys and myself. Friday night Casen had his first choir social at Main Event He had a great time eating pizza, playing video games and bowling with his friends.

We picked him up a tad early from the social so we could head out to the Tomball Memorial Football game. Shane and the boys had been to a game, but this was my first one. It was fun sitting under the Friday night lights, watching football and visiting with friends.

Camden has been talking to a cute girl, Sienna, who actually took it upon herself to come up and introduce herself to me at the football game. He decided a few weeks ago that he was going to ask her to Homecoming, and we have been trying to come up with a 'proposal' that would fit her. Apparently she enjoys playing golf and is wanting to join the golf team next year. So, with the help of the internet, (since I lack any type of creativity), we went with a golf theme. I spent time Thursday night placing the letters on the poster and gave Camden the task of creating the green, hole and flag which he did on Saturday while I was at my friend Tiffany's house working on the homecoming mum. (Obviously we were hopeful she was going to say yes!)

In the midst of working on the mum, Camden texted me and asked me to drive him over to Sienna's house so he could present his HOCO proposal. He seemed calm, but I was nervous for him. He did a great job. Sienna answered the door, along with her mom and brother. It was very sweet! And fortunately she did say Yes!!

After the proposal, I dropped Camden back off at home so I could head back to Tiffany's to continue working on the mum. Casen decided he wanted to go with me, and was a great helper! We have known Tiffany and her family for several years as we have gone to church together and Tiffany's son and Camden are in the same grade and her daughter and Casen are in the same grade. Tiffany is very creative and has made mums in the past. Fortunately, she has graciously opened her house up to several of us moms who have no idea what we are doing and is guiding us along the way. 

On Sunday, we enjoyed watching Camden play some soccer at Creekside Park.

 

Despite working on the mum for 10 hours on Saturday, it looks like I will be spending any opportunity I have this coming week working on Sienna's mum in preparation for Homecoming.

More Football

Casen had several fans present at his game tonight. It was unseasonably hot and we had the sun to our left the majority of the game. Casen had a good game and was grateful for his fans. :)

First Games of Fall Sports

Despite saying I would never allow my boys to play tackle football, Casen played in his first ever tackle football game Tuesday night. Never say never!!!  He has been practicing hard, and has tons of bruises as proof of his efforts. I do love football and, while I was a bit nervous watching, I must say I did enjoy watching him play. He played on both offense and defense, playing half back and linebacker. 

While they came up short of the win, 
it was fun to watch.

Camden also started back with soccer. He has joined a new team this year, Aspire. While he is new to the team, he has played soccer with a few of the boys in the past. While change is not always easy, it has been a welcomed change as it appears this team will help him grow in his soccer skills.

I can't wait to see what the fall season has in store for us!
