Spring Athletic Banquet

Tonight we attended Casen's spring athletic banquet. This banquet acknowledges the students who participated in basketball and track.

Casen received straight A's for both
grading periods.

The head coach of the team gives an award to a student they feel display the BECATS trait. They then choose a student to give the Wildcat Heart Award to.

Coach Blackwood, the head coach of the 7th grade basketball A team, said the following regarding the award:

"The Wildcat Heart Award celebrates a player who embraces team work and dedication. He has consistently shown unwavering leadership and inspires others around him through all his hard work and positive attitude. He was able to elevate his performance by turning feedback into results and did so while maintaining a 90 average in all his classes throughout the year. There were times when I would ask this young man to do things on the side in a game that he was not sure he could do and never once did he let on like he couldn't be successful in what I was trying to say. He always brought a 100% into whatever we were doing. He never let me, his team, but most importantly himself down. The Wildcat Heart Award goes to Casen Hood."

Shane had to leave before the award ceremony was over, so we didn't get a picture with him.

Casen and Coach Blackwood

Coach Blackwood served as Casen's coach both in football and basketball this year and taught him invaluable lessons that he will take with him through the coming years. We are so stinkin' proud of Casen's achievements both in and out of the classroom.

Prep Baseball

Casen played on the Tomball Memorial Prep baseball team this spring. They played ~10 games on weeknights, playing against other teams from schools across the area. He enjoyed playing with a lot of his classmates, and also enjoyed getting to know some of the boys who go to Grand Lakes Junior High who will end up at Tomball Memorial with him. Due to his arm injury, his field playing time was limited for the first two-thirds of the season. While he is a great cheerleader, he much prefers being on the field! His team finished off their season 7-3.

YMSL Banquet 2025

Tonight Camden and I attended the YSML banquet at the Tomball Event Center. We have enjoyed serving our community this year, volunteering with the Haley Rasco Foundation, Night to Shine, the Salvation Army, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Boys and Girls Country, Village at Gleannloch Farms, and Park Manor Tomball. We are looking forward to serving together and volunteering with some additional philanthropies this year.

I have really enjoyed serving our community while having some extra one on one time with Camden.

Homerun!!!

It was an exciting day at the ball field - Casen hit a homerun!!!! It has been awhile since he hit one, so we were very excited!

The bubbles must have brought good luck!

Welcome home.

Celebrate!!!

Last night, Casen requested McDonald's for supper. Shane's response to him was that he didn't get to pick because he hasn't hit a homerun. After he hit the homerun, Shane went over to the dugout to congratulate him, and the first thing out of Casen's mouth was, "Now I get McDonald's!"

Proud Dad!

We were fortunate this weekend that Camden's soccer game wasn't until this evening so both Shane and I could go and watch him play.

NJHS Induction

This evening Casen was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, which is an organization that recognizes students who achieve in academics, leadership, service, character and citizenship. Casen is fortunate that at this point, academically, things come pretty easy for him.We have worked this year to try to establish better study skills so that high school is not a rude awakening. We are very proud Casen of how well he is able to balance academics, sports and his social life.

He is SUCH a mess!!!

Taking the NJHS Pledge

Kevin Williams, principal of WWJH, will
be transferring to open West HS. He has
been a great principal and will be missed.

While his tie is not straight, it sure fits
his personality.

Because Shane had to leave to go to middle school night at church to teach his 8th graders, he missed being in our pictures.
