Thanksgiving Week 2024

It is Thanksgiving break and I believe everyone was ready for some time off from work/school. We spent the first part of our Thanksgiving break in the Arlington area for Mason and Grace's engagement. While there we shopped, ate and saw a few sights.

Casen had an appointment in the Woodlands for allergy testing on Tuesday. Poor guy had to be off of antihistamines for 5 days prior to his appointment, so to say he has been a hot mess snotting and snorting the past few days would be an understatement. He had allergy testing in October 2019 which resulted in him receiving allergy shots for the prescribed time of 4 years, however within 6 months of his completion of the immunotherapy his allergies have returned in full force. I have had good luck with allergy drops controlling my allergies so decided to take him to the group I am using so he too could start drops which would eliminate us finding time in our busy schedules to take him to receive shots.

He was not looking forward to the 46 shot he
was going to receive

His allergy test in 2019 only showed him to be allergic to grass and dust. Unfortunately, things have changed for him and he now is allergic to a variety of things.

We will be looking forward to him starting drops as soon as possible.

On November 20th, Camden had a follow up appointment with Dr. Brooks who was extremely pleased with how his knee had progressed. He was ready to release him to play soccer, but wanted Camden to have one final PT appointment where his therapist was to push him with running and other moves to ensure he was ready. He went ahead and wrote his note releasing him to play and he was fitted for a different brace that he is to wear while playing soccer for the next 3 months. Before we left, I did ask Dr. Brooks what the probability of this occurring again and he said he has a 20 percent chance and if it does happen again, it will require surgery. So, while I was with Casen at his allergy appointment, Shane was with Camden at his final PT appointment. He did everything that was asked of him, however it was evident he had lost a lot of his conditioning as well as muscle mass in that left leg. With tryouts starting on the day he returns from Thanksgiving break, he plans on doing some running the rest of the week. He is hopeful that his coach has a good idea of how he played prior to his injury and will take that into consideration during the upcoming tryout.

On Wednesday we headed to Kerrville to spend a few days there for Thanksgiving. Knowing that others are interested in his bees, he bought a second bee suit so he could show off his bees to anyone who would like to learn about them. It is so crazy to be amidst thousands and thousands of bees and not get stung. I learned so much about those amazing insects and everything that goes into the production of honey.

I enjoyed spending quality time with my
dad learning all about his bees.

On Thanksgiving day I went and spent a few hours visiting my uncle Stinker. We watched some of the Dallas Cowboy football game and chatted with some of the nurses who know him oh so well and take care of him.

I headed back to my parents so we could attend Thanksgiving at the Barn. We had great food and all got our bellies VERY full!

The whole group

On Friday we headed back home so Camden and I could volunteer Saturday afternoon at the Salvation Army for the Angel Tree Campaign.

The boys spent their time sorting clothes and shoes while the mom's placed individualized stickers on the bags that the toys/clothes would go in.

Lots and lots of bags

Grateful for time spent with
Camden volunteering

With Thanksgiving being late this year, Christmas is going to be here before we know it! Copper always arrives with an Advent calendar on December 1st and this year was no different. He decided to bring a Reese's calendar instead of the traditional chocolate calendar and I was informed that they hope next year Cooper goes back to bringing the traditional chocolate calendar. Noted. :)

We had a nice week off spending good quality time with family. Hopefully everyone got the boost they needed for the upcoming weeks which will be fast and furious with end of year festivities and end of semester tests/finals for the boys.
