Homerun!!!

It was an exciting day at the ball field - Casen hit a homerun!!!! It has been awhile since he hit one, so we were very excited!

The bubbles must have brought good luck!

Welcome home.

Celebrate!!!

Last night, Casen requested McDonald's for supper. Shane's response to him was that he didn't get to pick because he hasn't hit a homerun. After he hit the homerun, Shane went over to the dugout to congratulate him, and the first thing out of Casen's mouth was, "Now I get McDonald's!"

Proud Dad!

We were fortunate this weekend that Camden's soccer game wasn't until this evening so both Shane and I could go and watch him play.

NJHS Induction

This evening Casen was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, which is an organization that recognizes students who achieve in academics, leadership, service, character and citizenship. Casen is fortunate that at this point, academically, things come pretty easy for him.We have worked this year to try to establish better study skills so that high school is not a rude awakening. We are very proud Casen of how well he is able to balance academics, sports and his social life.

He is SUCH a mess!!!

Taking the NJHS Pledge

Kevin Williams, principal of WWJH, will
be transferring to open West HS. He has
been a great principal and will be missed.

While his tie is not straight, it sure fits
his personality.

Because Shane had to leave to go to middle school night at church to teach his 8th graders, he missed being in our pictures.

Soccer Banquet

Tonight Camden and I attended his first ever soccer banquet. It was nice seeing the boys dressed up and celebrating the boys accomplishments throughout the season. While I enjoyed watching Camden play (as I always do) it was an adjustment watching school soccer vs club. The varsity team consisted of almost all seniors, which meant that the underclassman were spread amongst the JVA and JVB team, with all but one or two freshman being on JVB. Camden did enjoy playing with friends and we both agreed, next year should be better!

Easter 2024

Easter looked a little different for us this year and frankly, it was odd not going to church on Easter Sunday. Camden had a soccer tournament that started on Good Friday and, if you made it to the final, you played on Easter. Camden's team ended up making it to the final to play a team that beat us prior on Friday. We were not thrilled to have to play them again as some of their parents and players did not display very good sportsmanship. I was not surprised during the final game when a verbal yelling match ensued between parents after one of their mommas went on the field and touched one of our players telling him to calm down after a play in which their player who played dirty the entire game tried taking out one of our players. Words were exchanged and chests were puffed before everyone calmed down. Fortunately, we ended up winning the tournament!

Celebration!

And of course, the Easter Bunny
came to visit!

Baseball in Beaumont

This weekend we headed to Beaumont for a baseball tournament. It is nice playing where family is - it meant Casen had the biggest cheering section on the team. :) And, since Camden does not routinely show up for Casen's games, it was fun having him there. It was a pretty weekend, although it was a bit cooler than I had anticipated for. Note to self - don't assume the temps in Beaumont are the same as in Cypress.

Here are just a few pics from the weekend.

The Shortest in the Family

Casen has been claiming for months that he is taller than me. Each time we would match up, I was either a hair taller or we were even. That is, until last night. As I was talking to him, I noticed we were no longer eye level, so we stopped to compare. I am now officially the shortest person in our family.

To ensure last night's comparison was correct, we tried again this morning. Apparently, he is still taller.

I admit, I knew this was coming, but I just wasn't ready. Camden reached my height on his 14th birthday. So with Casen still 2 months short of turning 13, I thought I had some time . . . Time to invest in some bricks!
