Much to Be Thankful For

This year my sister and her family and our family all decided to go to my parents to celebrate Thanksgiving with them in Kerrville. I believe it has been since 2010 since we have gone to their place for Thanksgiving so I was thrilled, as I usually am going to Kerrville. We arrived on Wednesday and of course started getting our Christmas lists together for some Black Friday shopping on-line, which mainly started in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

Our time there was spent with good eating and fun times with everyone all together. Thursday evening we headed down to the barn to have Thanksgiving dinner with about 250 other people. But first, we were able to take a family picture with everyone together.

The way they have it organized is they draw tables and that is the order you go in to get your food, which is potluck along with the provided turkey and mashed potatoes. Well luck of the draw would have it, we were the last table to go, which if memory serves me correct, the same held true four years ago when we were there. Regardless, we still had great food!

I spent a little time on Friday getting pictures of the boys for our Christmas card - as always that was a treat (said sarcastically). One of my favorites was of them in the leaves - the pure joy of children playing in leaves! Although I did not use this picture (as Casen would not cooperate) I love the colors.

A Little Extra Help

Since we will be going to my parents  for Thanksgiving, I decided to go ahead and put up the Christmas tree today. The boys are both recovering from the flu - unfortunately I had it at the beginning of the week and apparently decided to share. Shane took Casen to the doctor Friday morning where he was diagnosed with it and then I took Camden to the doctor Friday night, since he started with fever, and even though I probably took him a hair too early so his test was negative, he too was treated for it with Tamiflu. Thank goodness for that expensive medicine, because unlike the three days I fought it, the boys just seemed to have symptoms for just 24 hours.Today they are fever free!

The boys were so excited to be able to help with the decorating. Even though Casen had a hard time hanging his ornaments on the tree at times, they both were very helpful in decorating the tree.

One thing I loved was how the majority of the ornaments ended up on the right side of the tree all pretty much at the same height - thank you Camden. However my OCD kicked in and I had to even them out, but Camden didn't mind - luckily he gets my little quirks.

Prior to the redistribution of ornaments.
I love this time of year, especially since the boys are getting older and are really excited about all the decorations, lights and special things that go along with celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior.

Another Soccer Season in the Books

Camden's third season with the Blue Crocs has come to an end. Since all but three of the players were on the team previously, they again proved to be a great team. Although they say we do not keep score at this age, the kids will be the first to tell you the score of the game and if they won or lost. I honestly think we may have lost two of our games this season, so I would say it was a winning season. Since I did not do a blog entry for every game of this season, I will share some of my favorites now.

We sat through some rain

Booger Bed

The other night I was putting Camden to bed and before he hopped in his bed, I was trying to straighten out his sheets and get his stuffed animals organized and back up by his pillow.

As I pulled his sheets back I noticed all sorts of specs of something about 18 inches from the foot of his bed. As I got closer I noticed they looked like dry boogers. I looked at Camden puzzled and asked him "What the heck is this?" He just laughed and laughed and told me it was his booger bed!!! What the heck??? That is nasty! I could do nothing but laugh. The joys of having boys . . . .

ELC Fall Festival

Tonight was the boys Fall Festival at their school. Even though it is after Halloween, they still have the kids dress up in their Halloween costumes, which of course my boys were thrilled to be able to be superheros again. They had fun games and sweet treats for the kiddos to enjoy!
